National Women’s Soccer League x Black Women's Player Collective
The Juneteenth National Women’s Soccer League warm up t-shirts and scarf were created in collaboration with the Black Women's Player Collective and artist Cortney Herron, who explained her vision for the design "In envisioning the aesthetic, I drew inspiration from the legacy of black female athletes, and strove to honor their history of physical excellence and historical resilience. The blending of sport, nature and culture calls to mind empowerment and representation in sports. In the spirit of Juneteenth—a celebration of Black freedom and perseverance—this artwork celebrates how Black athletes continue to redefine liberation through excellence, visibility, and unity on and off the field."
